Tasty Tuesday - Apple Pie

Filling
7 medium apples, peeled & sliced thinly
1/2 C. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt

Topping
3/4 C. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 C. flour
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/3 C. chilled butter, cut into small pieces

For the crust - I have done homemade, but over time have found that Pillsbury crust that you find in the refridgerated section tastes just as good!

  1. Mix together all filling ingredients, spoon into your already prepared crust.
  2. To prepare topping - in a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, flour & nutmeg
  3. Use a pastry blender or 2 knives to cut butter into brown sugar mixture, until crumbs form.
  4. Sprinkle the apple filling with the crumb mixture.
  5. Bake at 400 for approx. 35 minutes.
