Decorating on a Budget

Spring is almost here & I believe we are all ready to see winter go. One way to welcome spring is by adding a touch of new decor. There are so many things you can do for very little money to change your decor. One of the most dramatic things you can do is paint. Paint can change the entire look of a room. Go for something totally different!

Change or add lighting. Candles are a great inexpensive way to do this! Group several candles together, or tie a couple of tapers together with some scrap fabric. Decorative light fixtures are another way to change the look of your room. Add a wall sconce or an inexpensive lamp. Lighting can not only change the look of your room, but the feel of your room by adding ambiance.

Don't overlook the little things. Change your shower curtain and/or towels. Add decorative moulding to a doorway. Put out a vase of flowers or just add a sprig here & there. I like to put them in old canning jars.

For inexpensive art, frame your child's artwork. Several family photos arranged on a wall is a great way to fill a large space. The things you can frame is limitless! Postcards, a page from a favorite book for a child's room, or the front of a box of a board game. Use your computer to print out a favorite quote on some nice card stock to frame.

Add fabrics to your room. You can do this by adding pillows & throws, or just take a scrap piece of fabric to add under a lamp or picture.

Instead of purchasing new furniture, give an outdated couch a face lift with a slip cover. Move furniture around, putting it in a different room.
